-Married to Livia Giuggioli (June 21, 1997) -Usually shies away from celebrity parties, Firth couldn't resist the invitation to join his current What a Girl Wants costar Kelly Preston and Britain's Queen Elizabeth at a gala polo match on July 28 2002. -Shakespeare in Love is the fourth time that Colin Firth and Jim Carter have worked together. They previously worked together in Lost Empires, A Month In the Country, and Hour of the Pig (the Advocate). -Brother of Kate Firth and Jonathan Firth. -Relationship with Meg Tilly began while filming Milos Forman's Valmont (1989). -Had a relationship with Jennifer Ehle, whom he met while filming "Pride and Prejudice" (1995) -Has twice lost his screen wife to a member of the Fiennes family - to Ralph in English Patient, The (1996) and to Joseph in Shakespeare in Love (1998). His retaliation in both is to attempt to kill the offending Fiennes. Coincidentally, both films won the Best Picture Oscar. -Contributed a short story, "The Department of Nothing", to the collection "Speaking With the Angel", edited by Nick Hornby.
